Mental Health Coordinator

 

Brittany grew up in Woodstock, New Brunswick and has earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Psychology from STU (2016) and a Master of Social Work degree from Carleton University (2018). As Mental Health Coordinator, Brittany works on various aspects of mental health support at STU, including running awareness initiatives, facilitating workshops, trainings, groups, and programs, providing one-at-a-time counselling sessions, and helping ÆÞÓÑÆÆ½â°æ connect to mental health supports and services.

Our Services

One-at-a-time Counselling

STU Mental Health offers one-at-a-time counselling services to ÆÞÓÑÆÆ½â°æ. One-at-a-time counselling has the intention of helping the client in one session, while acknowledging that additional sessions are available to the client if they choose to reach out again. There are also various options for ongoing counselling services available to ÆÞÓÑÆÆ½â°æ to which the Mental Health Coordinator can connect ÆÞÓÑÆÆ½â°æ.

Workshops & Trainings

STU Mental Health offers the following workshops and trainings:

  • Living Works safeTALK Training (an evidence-based training that gives learners the practical skills to recognize when someone may be thinking about suicide and take action by connecting them to safety)
  • Helping a Peer in Distress Training (a training that prepares ÆÞÓÑÆÆ½â°æ to support a peer who may be struggling with their mental health)
  • Eco-anxiety Workshop (a workshop that provides psycho-education and interactive activities on the topic of eco-anxiety)
  • Communication Styles Workshop (a workshop that provides psycho-education and interactive activities on the four communication styles – passive, aggressive, passive-aggressive, and assertive)

Groups & Programs

STU Mental Health offers the following groups and programs:

  • Therapy Dog Visits (through River Valley Obedience & Field Trial Club)
  • Creativity for Mental Health Program (promotes mental health through psycho-education and creative activities)
  • Recovery Group (for ÆÞÓÑÆÆ½â°æ struggling with substance use and gambling behaviour)
